Bobby is a fantastic member as he continues to surprise us all with his collections and memories of Barry Island. When he permitted me to share his items on this site, I was very surprised to receive a photo of my hero, Sir William Butlin, and his family.
The main photo is a great honor as we see Bobby sitting on the right with his friend, Sir William's Butlin nephew David. There is much I would like to ask as my mind feels so very excited to have this on the website. Thank you Bobby and David for allowing me to share this.
When this photo arrived I could not believe what I was seeing, it was truly magical to see. It's a new level in the history of Butlins and my hero Sir William Butlin. This photo is amazing to see and shows you another side of Butlin's history and how important the family connection is to this wonderful family.
This is an extremely important photo that adds to the history and timeline of Butlin's as we see the founder here showing how proud he is of his family. To have this on my website is amazing. Sitting there with a big smile on his face is the main man, the Governor, or rightly so, his name is "Sir William Butlin". Sitting next to him is a lovely and amazing person who has done a lot for charity and carried on the Butlin spirit, Lady Sheila Butlin.
Sitting in the middle of Mr and Mrs Butlin is their granddaughter, Coral. In a rare photo we see Sir William's Butlin children, Jackie, Billy Junior and Cherrie Butlin.
Bobby said: "This is the first time this picture has been seen by the public, so thank you David. I am extremely grateful and honoured to be able to show this wonderful photograph of the main man and his lovely family.
Bobby goes on to tell me about this photo of Sir Billy Butlin with his two children Jackie and Billy Junior. Sir Billy Butlin granddaughter Coral and nephew David are also pictured.
This wonderful photo is showing Sir Billy Butlins granddaughter, Coral, christening
Coral is proudly sitting on one of Sir Billy Billy's cars.
Cherry Butlins Rolls Royce
In honour of the former location of Butlin's Barry Island is a blue plaque. This is a special item as you can see the Butlin Holiday Camp logo, which was used a great deal in the early days of Butlin's.
These pin badges were given to the work force who helped build the camp as the camp didn't open till 1966
Mark and the Butlins Memorabilia website have been given permission by Bobby and David (Sir Billy's nephews) to showcase their collection. With the help of Bobby and David you will be able to see the story of a person who has helped many in the Butlin's timeline. All stories and photos shown on this page do not belong to me and belong to those who have shared them. Please do not ask for their details as I will not share anything with you as I don't have their details and it's not my place to give them away if I did.
