Butlin's Clacton Collection
Butlin's Clacton would have been the second eldest resort and one that was proud to show off the name Butlins. Used to support the war, Butlins Clacton would stand proud to show what Butlins had on offered to all its guests. The unusual thing about this wonderful location is the years of opening and closure. Opened in 1938, it closed down in 1983, which the last two digits swapping locations.
Today, Butlins Clacton is remembered in memories and honoured on this website as the second eldest camp in Butlins history. The opening of this camp was not a simple task for Sir Billy Butlin, however, he had never seen this as a challenge and had shown those in power what Butlins can do for them and the local town.
